Lake Manyara provides a perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favoured haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Serengeti, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle, which join in the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Early morning game drive at Ngorongoro Crater, the eighth wonder of the world and one of Africa’s best wildlife arenas. This place offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Thousands of large mammals can be found in the creater including elephants, rhinos and lions.
